STEAM Summer Camp

Well, it has officially been 1 month since I started my PULSE assignment at EDCI and I can easily say I love every minute of it. I have started off my assignment on the ground level helping with their STEAM(Science,Technology,Engineering,Art,Math) summer camp program. They average 50-60 kids in attendance every day. During camp the kids focus on STEAM activities in the mornings with outside volunteers and then work on writing, reading, math and structured learning activities in the afternoons. With the help of other organizations and non-profits, EDCI is able to feed the kids breakfast and lunch every day. In addition to that, EDCI also hosts a summer lunch program and daily activities for the surrounding community. It has been a great experience to see all that EDCI contributes to their community and I have only seen a fraction of what they have to offer.

Check out this video/article where EDCI was recently featured on the local news station ABC11.

I wanted to thank everyone again for their words of encouragement and support as I take on my PULSE assignment.

  1. Glad it is going so well, contributing to the community. I look forward to hearing more about it in the upcoming months!

  2. I had the biggest smile on my face watching that video!! What an AWESOME program. How great that they are teaching students at such a young age!! They can really light a spark in these kids so they’ll want to pursue the sciences (or arts!). I love they there is an ‘A’ in STEM to make STEAM…good to have balance!! Can’t wait to read more!!! Sounds like fun and I hope you’re having some!!
