Post #1 – Yes, I made the right decision!

Since the Pulse program has started I have been dreaming to apply for it but due too many professional reasons the right time never came.

In the end of 2015 I did another rotation in my career and I thought I would take many more years to be able to apply. But I saw the application’s email I decided to talk about my dream with my manager without much expectation about if I would be able to apply and if so, when. For my surprise, she supported me immediately and we have agreed to apply for the 2017 assignment.

The application period started in Dec 1st 2016 and I started to fill the application form. But unfortunately, the life presented me some personal challenges, making me think about if it was the right time to apply.

So, during New Year’s break, I decided to go to a spiritual retreat to meditate and decide. After reflecting a lot,  I realized that the best way was to leave the decision in God’s hand, so I would apply for Pulse assignment and if it was not the right time to go, I would not be selected.

On Apr 18th, after 5 selection steps, I was confirmed as a volunteer for the Leonard Cheshire Disability in Nairobi, Kenya as Global Alliance Regional Coordinator. My main objective will be to help the NGO to raise fundings and one of the ways will be through the organization of a huge event during the Disability People International Day on Dec 03rd that, by coincidence or not, is my son’s birthday.

I’m sure God would not allow me to go if it was not the right thing for me and my family so, I’m more than excited and confident to assume this new challenge.

I’m sure I made the right decision telling my manager about my dream.

I’m sure I made the right decision applying for Pulse.

I’m sure I will be able to contribute to LCD because I have the right intention, I have the necessary skills, I have the support from my manager, my team, my family and from the Pulse team.

I have no words to thanks GSK for giving me this opportunity!

Post #1 – Sim, Eu tomei a decisão certa!
