Watch VLOG EP. 01 – Introduction
I first heard about PULSE in 2012 and ever since then, I kept checking their website every year telling myself that one day I will apply for this once in a life time opportunity and finally the perfect moment has arrived! THIS IS IT! I feel so blessed and lucky every time I think about the whole application journey— from having my PDP discussion with my manager, sending my application, going for interviews until finally getting matched to a partner NGO.
For the next 6 months, I will be a PULSE Volunteer in the Canadian Cancer Society which is a national, community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. It is the largest national charitable funder of cancer research in Canada and is leading the fight against cancer. My PULSE assignment is to support the Society in developing change management strategies and providing PMO support in rolling out a new financial system and a new regionalized model for the delivery of financial functions/services which will be pivotal to developing a new structure for the financial portfolios across the organization. To those who I have worked with, it is somewhat similar to what I currently do in GSK right now for IPT and BISON but at the same time it is also totally and completely different. I’m having mixed emotions about this assignment, very excited but also nervous!!! I am looking forward to share my adventures with all of you!
