It raised around 50% more than the expected outcome of the event. The best part is that the money raised from this one of its kind event will be used to build the first inpatient hospice in Serbia. This year’s Ball was also the opportunity for BELhospice to announce plans for the start of a capital campaign for building the first inpatient hospice in Serbia for terminally ill cancer patients, and to present the members of the Honorary Patrons Committee gathered to support this capital project.

Just to remind that on Saturday, 28th November, BELhospice organised the most successful Charity Ball so far, with a support from Ambassadors of Belgium, Great Britain, Canadian, Mexican, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Croatian Embassies, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade, Honorary Consul of Ireland, as well as representatives of corporate sector, artists, celebrities and others willing to contribute to collecting donations for terminally ill cancer patients and their families.

Milan Vujovic, Head of marketing for SEAD Region in Samsung Electronics, stated – “Samsung is dedicated to education, employment, but also health and medicine globally and in Serbia as well. We always strive to help those who need help, and I hope that this evening is another step forward towards the promotion of palliative care in Serbia and achieving broader social support.”

H.E. Mr. Leo D’aes, Belgium Ambassador and Chairman of the Board, said – “Many countries are weak in this area, this process required great amount of efforts from the governments, volunteers and professionals. When they are working together with diplomats then it is a wonderful challenge.”

Celebration of a Success

Ivana Todorovic reminded the guests that BELhospice for the last 11 years has been providing free palliative care services for over 1500 terminally ill cancer patients and their families. BELhospice has been also involved in the education process of both professionals and public. It is necessary to build a new day-care center and inpatient unit in order to improve the quality of life of those patients and their families.
