Introduction of Tailor-made Approach towards imparting Health Education
Introduction of Tailor-made Approach towards imparting Health Education to Health Workers, Members of IIMC, s 67 Women Peace Council Groups, 50 Network Groups & Rural Peoples
A step towards Realization of dream of Healthy Mankind through creating awareness regarding Healthy Living styles by means of continuous Health Education……♣
In my initial days at IIMC, Kolkata During my several visits to Women Peace Council Groups & Network Groups in various different rural locations
My Observations :- I found that a lot can be done to raise the scope of welfare to rural communities & to empower Health Workers in Women Peace Council Groups & Network Groups. So, that they can help & support the rural peoples in much more better manner.
Based Upon My initial Observations initially I recommend 5 activities to be done to enhance the scope & accelerate the pace of developmental activities for rural peoples through Women Peace Councils & Network Groups. Pls. have a look at Copy of my initial proposal.
I unfolded these five recommendations to head in – charges & members of Women peace council groups & Network groups at IIMC, s Main campus & they like the ideas. Then We collectively approaches Dr. Sujit Brahmochary (Director Of IIMC) Except first recommendation (due to some technical difficulties) He agreed upon rest 4 recommendations.
Here I am sharing with you about my 3rd recommendation & progress over it. i.e.
Awareness programs to the 67 WPC’S & 50 Network Groups members through health charts in tailor made approach i.e. Depending upon the prominent issues in their particular area / locality i.e. Diabetes (Sign& Symptom), Stroke, Diarrhea, Asthma, Basic Hygiene, Tobacco chewing (Oral Cancer), Smoking (Lung Cancer), Cervical cancer, Breast cancer, Alcoholism etc. in aspects like Sign, symptoms, prevention, control, effects (Long term & Short term).
Motive: – To impart Health education to rural peoples in tailor made approach through health charts specifically made to the most common health related issues pertaining to their community/locality/village.
Advantage: – Health Workers felt empowered with updating of their knowledge.& will be able to impart much specified desired information to rural peoples which in turn help them in early detection of signs & symptoms, of disease, enable them to take preventive / corrective steps to avoid / control disease specific in their community/ locality & enables them to lead healthy life.
Way Forward: – After Discussion with all the members of women peace council , Network Groups & IIMC, s Director Dr. Sujit . I had conducted several meetings i.e. some special meetings & some during training sessions or during other empowerment programs with conveners, presidents & other members of all 67 Women Peace Councils groups. & 50 Network Groups, rural mothers & other community members in IIMC, s main Campus & outside too.
I unfolded my proposal to them & seek voice of the stakeholders & other beneficiaries. I shared with them the benefits & scope regarding need of Health education to stay healthy & improving quality of life. By this way I was successful in convincing them & securing their consent. & during these interactions we had prepared the group wise lists of the most common health related issues faced by majority of the groups. Pls. see the attached list.
Meeting with Team mates: – Thereafter I conducted a Meeting with my international team mates at IIMC & unfolded the idea of making tailor-made specific posters for imparting Health Education.
I share with them the list of common health related issues came out from my discussion with various different groups. & I asked them to choose one topic each of their choice to make posters within specified timeline. & also, we decided to have group discussions over all the posters for updating knowledge of everyone among us on all the 20 topics. I put Special emphasis on making the posters in the most simple & understandable way. Since, majority of health workers are marginally literate & also, many of the rural mothers are illiterate too. Pls. see the attached List of Topics of posters & name of Volunteers assigned for making posters
Thereafter We all collectively prepared Health charts assigned to us…
After preparing charts we did Group Discussion on pre-fixed date at Meeting Point at IIMC,s main Campus on Health Charts Prepared by us where everyone present his/her chart to entire group & We all discuss the same & clear our doubts over these topics. So, that anyone of us can educate Health workers or Rural peoples on any of topic during Training sessions at IIMC,s campuses & during our field visits to various WPC,s Groups & Network groups. Our group discussion seems more like group studies in this way we all have updated our knowledge too.
Now, We have plenty of health Charts specifically made to the most common health related issues pertaining to the community/locality/villages of 67 distinct women peace Council groups & 50 Network Groups. & Through these charts Now We are educating Health Workers & Members of Women Peace Councils & Network Groups at IIMC,s Campuses as well as during our field visits to Women Peace Council Groups & Network Groups in their respective Villages.
Now, the staff members of IIMC, s Women Peace Council Groups & Network Groups inculcated My Motive “To impart Health education to rural peoples in tailor made approach through health charts specifically made to the most common health related issues pertaining to their community/locality/village”. In their routine programs & continuing spreading Smiles 🙂 ♥ ♣
