I am from the people who are crazy about sports especially those are in trend. I have a long list of sportsman in each game as others do follow their idols. Although cricket and football are among most followed ones but if someone in Serbia and he doesn’t know about Novak Djokovic he should not claim he know Tennis. My reason to start knowing about this iconic player was my maiden event with Belhospice as I already mentioned in earlier blog of my PULSE book.
First charitable tennis tournament BELhospice OPEN 2015 was held on 26 September at Colonial Sun tennis courts. Tournament was well supported by a number of reputable companies in Serbia Honda Srbija, Pharmanova d.o.o., PSTech doo, Babolat and Movem Fashion.
BELhospice OPEN gathered 64 male and female tennis players who played tennis whole day long to win the BELhospice trophy. This tournament has raised over 270.000 RSD (2500 €) which will be used to support BELhospice charity in caring for terminally ill cancer patients.
Tijana Radović won the trophy in female competition after being better in final match with Radmila Panajotovic. In male games, a new hope of Serbian tennis Andrija Graovac (19 years old) won the trophy in the last match of the tournament playing against excellent Sinisa Janjusevic after a very tough competition.
Atmosphere was excellent and it was quite visible that all of the players enjoyed playing at the tournament. We were also very lucky with the weather since we had heavy raining the night before the tournament. The main credit should be given to the quality of the courts at the Colonial Sun that did not became an issue since the courts were well prepared and ready for the tournament.
I already shared part of this event before in earlier blog but the interesting part was to invite Novak Djokovic to the tournament as a chief guest which was an impossible task it remained impossible till the end because he no longer live in Serbia but we didn’t finish with no hope as there is always a next time. The success of tournament gives immense confidence to arrange another tournament this time for kids as well including males and females. Wish us good luck hopefully for next tennis tournament.
