Did you know that approximately 3,100 women die each year due to pregnancy related causes in Ghana? One of the goals of Marie Stopes International is to reduce this figure significantly by helping to prevent maternal death in developing countries.
During my three months stay with Marie Stopes in Ghana I am working with the social marketing team to help strengthening the product strategy which contributes to this goal. Soon after my arrival, I travelled together with my social marketing colleague to Marie Stopes in Tanzania to learn more about the key success factors of their product and sales strategy. We got profound insights through meeting the social marketing team of Tanzania and talking to the distributor, pharmacists and doctors. The information from Tanzania together with local market research set the basis for our strategy in Ghana, which was successfully presented in front of the senior management. Now the social marketing team already moved on to the implementation stage and is busy preparing the expert product information material, embedding the distribution network, organizing meetings with key stakeholders and preparing the internal and external training schedule.
I am sure the coming weeks will keep us all busy, but it is great to see the progress made and I am grateful to be part of this journey!
