Obama comes home!
He has been the talk of Nairobi for the last couple of weeks. There has been a flurry of activity visible in the city as central reservations are planted and spruced up. Obama is visiting on the 24 July! I can vouch for the road improvements as I personally observed new tarmac being laid on State Road leading up to the gates of the Kenyan Presidential State House. Traffic was especially heavy that evening, taking us 2 hours to get home!
You will be aware that Barack Obama is the first African American to serve as USA President, but were you aware that his roots lie in Kenya ? His father was born near Kisumu and only 40 miles from Bungoma. So I’m hoping he might take some time out to visit a PULSE volunteer and catch up with GSK’s partnership with Save The Children here in West Kenya. I’m sure he’s got some time to fill !
