Kava…no bubbles just yaqona
Well today was another day to remember. This is my view when having breakfast(remember it’s winter here!). After a really busy day at work I was invited for Cava, oh great I thought, cool glass of bubbles, great bar, fantastic scenery, little did I know the reality was tea room, washing up bowl and liquid that tasted like dish water! This brown muddy liquid is served at room temperature and presented in a bilo (a coconut shell) traditionally a clap of cupped hands and the whole lot goes down in one. I politely kept down two large shell fulls and then had to admit it tasted revolting. They fell about laughing and actually owned up to finding this brew rather disgusting themselves. Apparently it’s taken for the effect NOT the pleasure of drinking the stuff…..I’ll never look at Cava in the same light again…actually made me feel quite waffy!!!!
