Five months have gone by of my assignment and that day came .. It is not the last day for me but the last day for my friend .. Richard, my GSK colleague, whom became a brother and is preparing to leave, having completed his assignment.
Five months ago I couldn’t believe that I could live with a person whom I didn’t know, from a different country, a different culture, a different background and even a different language. Previous to this experience, it would not have been easy for me to work with such a diverse person and even more difficult to imagine sharing the same living quarters, but yet it happened.
Not only did we do it successfully, but we were able to become best friends, best brothers, and the best support for each other, thousands of miles away from our own countries.
I still remember that day he picked me up from the bus station upon my arrival to start my new challenge.
We have been working together for five months trying to make things better, trying to help others, and trying to learn. For me one of the most important lessons is that we can live with each other although we are different. In my mind this is a proof to the humanity that people were created different from each other, not to fight and not to become enemies , but to know each other, to learn from each other, to gain knowledge and experience, to develop ourselves and better the world.
Thank you my friend and hope we can have the opportunity to meet again.
