Giving Thanks…

Stop Hunger Now PatchOn my way home to celebrate Thanksgiving, I took a detour through Columbus, OH where 350 avid Buckeye fans helped package 75,000 Stop Hunger Now (SHN) meals at the Ohio State University’s (OSU) 4H Building. Buckeyes Against Hunger in conjunction with HJ Heinz, Inc. and OSU College Food Agricultural Environmental Services (CFAES) hosted the event. I learned a lot about Ohio State and met some great Buckeyes. Part of my PULSE project scope includes process improvement recommendations for facilitating larger size meal packaging events and the 3rd party logistics for Stop Hunger Now’s new Indianapolis warehouse. This was a perfect scenario to help me better understand the processes.

The clock is definitely ticking a bit louder as this PULSE assignment gets to the final stretch. It’s similar to the final jeopardy question, hearing the THINK music play, writing down your answer and getting ready for Alex Trebek to say, “OK, pens down.”

Stop Hunger Now took an hour from their staff meeting this week to share all they were thankful for this holiday season. What a great way to take the time and reflect on the year and those people that make a difference in our lives. My reflection this season is how I am humbled and very grateful to GSK, my co-workers who are taking on additional duties, my wonderful and supportive family and friends, making it all possible for me to share my talents with Stop Hunger Now. This organization is truly making a difference in the HUNGER movement through awareness, advocacy and especially on the delivery of over 40MM meals this year to over 65 countries throughout the world. Stop Hunger Now has made a difference too in my personal and professional life. A sincere THANK YOU…
