A Special Friend

I have met a wonderful lady here, a Mama within the community of Munsieville.  She is inspiring in her own right and we are in touch with each other every week.  She has called me for no reason except to say hello and see how I am doing.  We got together yesterday and spent some time just speaking about life in general, her life, my life.  She is so interested in the work I am doing and the work of the Thoughtful Path.  I have just come back from a trip to Zimbabwe and we spoke about politics, the country and I shared my numerous pictures with her.  She always has such a sparkle in her eyes, a great sense of humour and a memory that beats mine hands down.  Her name is Gloria.  In our taIks, I  learn many things about the community of Munsieville, South Africa and Africa overall.  She is a very special woman who is filled with stories to share and has a genuine caring and nurturing nature.  She knows that when visitors come into the community that many want to meet her because she has a famous brother.  She chuckles at that, but anyone that meets her soon realizes the pleasure of just being in her welcoming home and with her.

I am privileged to call her my friend and I will truly miss her when I return home.

Her famous brother is Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
