Last week is another wonderful and meaningful week for me on my PULSE journey. Save the Children organized one of their signature events: Fastathon. Fastathon is a voluntary, 24-hour “fasting marathon” as a demonstration of solidarity to raise funds for more than 1 million children in West Africa who are at risk of starvation. Last year they raised funds for East Africa and it was very successful event as media paid attention and celebrities got involved. This year, the event started on 23 August at 9 am to 9 am on 24 August (EDT). Save the Children asked their employee and anyone to participate in this event by pledging to fast for 24 hours or skipping a snack, a meal, a cup of coffee, raising funds and spreading the word to raise awareness though social media: Facebook and Twitter. The goal of fundraise is $100,000.
